It is a black, brooding April night in 1935, and the wind is picking up. Morley Child has been despondent for some time, as the infantile paralysis which ravaged his body as a child, brings yet more symptoms to hinder his life. His wife Ria constantly reassures him, but he wants to try and help some more. When Mrs Perkins asks for a glass of water, he jumps at the chance to help, and heads off down to the kitchen. Suddenly there's a bang, and they find Morley lying on the kitchen floor...
