This is the factual story of Sammy Bryan, a kid from the Cinder lots of Jersey, and his personal war against the axis, how he joined the navy and was sent to the submarine chaser center in Miami where he ran up against Commander E F McDaniel. It's also the story of Lieutenant Alfred Helfer, skipper of PC 627, the little boat that fired the first shot, a shot before H-Hour in the invasion of Sicily on July 10th 1943.
