The Brotherly Murder Case concerns the killing of a man who pretended to be Ben Burke one of two brothers who after having being missing for twenty years returns at the death of their father to claim an inheritance. Philo Vance has planted a newspaper story which indicates that positive proof of the older brother’s identity is in lawyer Wheeler’s office safe and it is in front of this safe that the allege Ben Burke was found shot.
