Too often in American pictures the American Indian has been cast in the role of villain for according to Western movie code the white man is always the hero. However in Broken Arrow there are two heroes. One an American Indian, famous leader of the ferocious Apache tribe, the other an American frontiers man whose understanding of his savage enemy brought peace and goodwill to the early west. The stars from the Twentieth Century Fox studios are Burt Lancaster who stepped in and played the role for James Stewart who was ill and Jeff Chandler and Debra Paget who both starred in the 1950 motion picture.
