The wonder dog King was at his master's side when they approached the wooden bridge which spanned the river. As he saw a friend coming from the opposite direction, King barked in recognition and then turned to the Mountie. It was old Pierre, and the Frenchman was actually on his way to see Sergeant Preston. But as he crosses the bridge, there is a loud crack and the supporting timbers of the bridge buckle and the bridge collapses into the swollen river...
