Hazel Barbour-Murray hurries from her own house, thirteen doors up from Seacliff Drive, to the family home, on a crisp February morning, where she finds Father Barbour belatedly bringing in the morning paper from the front lawn. Pinky is back, who appears to have rediscovered his confidence, and with a fortune of two hundred and fifty thousand dollars. He's feeling on top of the world, and Hazel is eager to hear from him.
