Burt Gilbert wasn't in a very good mood that evening when he came home to supper. It had been a long and tiring day, full of dull police routine. The meeting with Harry Blous upset him. Blous was a small time racketeer mixed up in a dozen or more dirty deals. Burt thought later that perhaps he should have just played along with him, found out what Harry's angle was, and that he was too worried to play cop.
