It is a moonless midnight September 16th 1947. A truck without lights is parked in a cultivated field several mile s from Fairvale, Texas. In the darkness two men are perspiring freely as they load bales of seasoned alfalfa on to the truck. They are stealing from their employer Robert Mullen but when he catches them in the act one of the guys named Slim kills him.
