Hal Wilson is an escaped desperate gunman who takes refuge in the family home of psychologist Dr Shelby. Dr Selby realizes he and his family are at the mercy of a cold-blooded killer and decides that the safety of his family depended on placating Wilson and disarming his suspicions by feeding to his vanity with seemingly innocent questions about himself.
