This is the story of the birth of blues music starring Phil Harris as Memphis, Dinah Shore as Betty Lou and Bing Crosby as Jeff Lambert. The year is 1905 and though the century is young the music is as stodgy and stuffy as ever. Only here and there is a strident note heard, raucous and unconstrained., a new kind of music young and virile. You could heard it in Memphis and New Orleans down along the levies on Lower Basin street where the colored folk hung out. Jeff Lambert heard it and it changed his whole life.
