Big One, The

Big One, The

Broadcast: March 12, 1952
Added: Mar 17 2015

It was early morning on the 21st of June 1921, and the mist was just rising from the meadow in County Waterford, Ireland. Daniel O'Shea had finished the milking when he ran into Patrick McGuinness, who was there to ask something important - Martha O'Shea's hand in marriage. Daniel refuses outright to let a man from County Cork marry his sister, which results in a big row - so he goes outside to go and soak his head at the pump to cool off. When he lifts his head out of the cold water - there he was - the Big One - a leprechaun!
