Ed Barton was the baggage handler on the train and someone went in to the baggage car to steal the strongbox containing $20,000 and killed him and shot his 10-year-old son Billy Barton who Ed had unfortunately taken along for the ride. Billy was hurt but would pull through all right. Billy didn’t know who had killed his father but was sure that he would recognize the killers voice if he heard it again. Matt Believed the killer was still around Dodge and would certainly know that the Barton boy could identify him. For Billy’s own safety Matt had a cell made up in the jailhouse for him.
