The police are looking for Sugar Puss O'shea to testify against her gangster boyfriend. To hide from the police she is staying with some mad professors and helping them with their research on slang language.  Sugar puss finds herself falling in love with English professor Potts but  when he proposes to her he doesn't know she was due to marry a murdering gangster named Joe Lyler.
