Donald K. Farlow drives through the Connecticut countryside. Donald K. Farlow is 41 and is scarcely five pounds heavier than he was twenty years when he was named all Ivy League running back. All in all time has been kind. At this moment Donald seems to have a problem, he feels a nagging little pain in the region of his heart. Nothing serious but it seems to persist so when he sees a sign for a motel he decides to stop. The motel keeper, Mrs Collins feels as though she knows him, his face seems so familiar and later she recognizes him from a painting as the hero of Devils Mountain who had been killed from a shot to the chest some two hundred years ago…
