Roger Pearson was visiting Bierut on business with his wife when the 1976 civil war between the christian and muslim factions broke out. they were staying at a new 25 storey hotel which was situated in a predominantly christian area hitherto untouched by the madness of the war. That night they slept fitfully little realising that they were about to become the focal point of world attention in a few hours time.
