The Golden Ace hotel in the town of White Horse had quietened down for the night except for a few stragglers in the bar. Suddenly the sound of a shot was heard from the rooms above and a man who looked like Tom Holman was seen fleeing. Tom was not the kind of person who would be involved in a killing and in fact Tom had a good alibi in that he was with Sergeant Preston.
