Four men met in the back room of the Richland City Gazette. The three seated were Jack Brandon; young publisher of the paper, Oscar Graham; weather-beaten cattleman, and Roy Stevens; land and cattle speculator. Elderly Denton Murdock; president of the local bank, was standing as he concluded the speech he'd been making about the current situation in the city, and how it was getting out of hand - even for a good Sheriff like Tom Morley. Cattle rustling, highway robbery, and citizens being robbed in their own homes was just the tip of the iceberg.
