Inspector was at the New York Dock to meet an extradited criminal named “Burling Game” Bertie off the Queen Elizabeth when he met Barton Drake who was going to see if the Ship was still the same as when he had been on the maiden voyage. There were also 65 French women on the ship arriving in America to perform but on the way four of them died and it appeared that someone was murdering them.
