Aunt Mary is at home when the phone rings. It's Peggy's fiance, Nick, and he has phoned to speak with a request. He would like to talk to her about something, and so Aunt Mary agrees to meet him in the lobby of the hotel in Wakefield at noon tomorrow. After replacing the handset, Mary stands by the telephone for a minute, looking toward the stairs, up which Peggy had gone a short while ago. What could Nick want?
