A long time ago, people didn't have matches to strike to make a fire, they had only a tinderbox containing a piece of flint and steel, which they would strike to help kindle a fire. And today's story by Hans Christian Andersen is about a magical tinderbox, and a whole heap of characters. There's a soldier, a king, a princess, an old witch, and three monstrous magic dogs.
