Today's story is about the United States Army Air Forces and how it grew into the mightiest striking power in the world. In 1939 with aggressive nations heavily armed for war, this country was training only five hundred and fifty flyers a year, and no provision had been made to increase this number. Only a small group of Americans foresaw our country's danger, a general, a few lower ranking army officers, and eight civilians. One of those civilians was a man named Roy Johnson.
