It was one o'clock in the morning, private detective Steve Grainger was driving a rental car from Long Island to New York when the lights went out. He got out of the car to check the fuse. It was pitch black when a car passed by, opened its doors and dumped a man out on to the road. The man was Martin Robles, he had been carrying $10,000 on him but now the money was missing and Mr Robles was suffering from temporary memory loss. Mrs Robles had complete faith in her husband and hires Steve Grainger to clear her husband of his involvement in the missing money.
