Sergeant Bill Mead was heading towards town. When he came to the fork in the road, he hesitated as always. He took Willow Road, the one which went by Aunt Mary's farm. The young man walked wearily. It was totally unnecessary for Bill to walk back and forth as he could have driven his wife's car, but ever since Kitt had left for California, he had refrained from using it.
