Just listen to what's in store!
It's impossible to give you a true idea of the huge range of shows you have access to as a member of RUSC, because there are just so many wonderful examples to choose from, but I've hand picked extracts from a several of my favorite shows below.
A spine-tingler that is guaranteed to
have you on the edge of your chair
If you like thrillers you'll absolutely love this first sample. It's the opening minutes of a
classic episode of Suspense called On a Country Road and starring
Cary Grant. It was first broadcast on 16th November 1950 and it tells the story of a young
couple who find themselves driving down a dark country road with a storm brewing and a killer on the loose.
Have a listen to these first few minutes and you'll be desperate to find out what happens
next.
Good clean comedy fun
Old time radio shows are wonderful for smoothing away the stresses of the day and putting a smile
on a world weary face. They're like chicken soup for the ears. One of my favorites is the Phil Harris and
Alice Faye show. In this short extract the scene is set for a comedy masterpiece.
All the big names of Hollywood!
You'll be amazed at how many top films stars of the day appeared on radio. In this
next sample not only do you get two of the biggest Hollywood stars in Hedy Lamarr and Alan
Ladd, you also get an introduction from Cecil B. Demille, one of the all-time great producers and
directors, and a full-cast radio version of Casablanca, one of the most famous Hollywood movies of all
time.
